Donald Trump announced on Monday that the White House will serve food from fast food chains McDonald’s, Wendy’s, Burger King and pizza to the national champion Clemson Tigers during the football team’s visit later in the day.
“I really mean it,” Trump told reporters outside the White House. “It will be interesting. And I would think that’s their favorite food.”
Trump is scheduled to participate in a public event with the team at 6:30 p.m. in the East Room of the White House. He said their visit is dependent on the weather after the Washington, D.C., area received several inches of snow over the weekend.
Monday will mark the second time the Clemson University football team will visit Trump at the White House. The team also made the trip following its national championship victory in 2017.
Clemson defeated the Alabama Crimson Tide in this year’s national title game, blowing out the defending champions, 44-16.
Twitter had some thoughts about the non-fancy meal:
Everyone but Trump knows that there is nothing worse than McDonalds, Wendy’s and Burger King that is hours old.

Trump announces that he will meet with the Clemson Tigers today and will serve them McDonalds and Wendy's…"because that's their favourite food". Right. Elite athletes love Big Macs

Michelle Obama said when there is a dinner at the White House, the President has to pay for the food himself. Trump said Clemson’s football team is coming tonight. They will be served McDonalds, Burger King, and pizza. Let’s see if anyone shows up.

No, these are Trump's favorite foods. Maybe they should have asked the team what they like. But no this administration doesn't look outside itself.
