Donald Trump is scheduled to make an announcement at 1:00pm, and some are speculating that he will announce an agreement to temporarily open the government.
CNN’s Kaitlan Collins tweeted, “President Trump is poised to make an announcement about the government shutdown, sources tell us. This was a last minute addition to his schedule, and it’s unclear what he will say, but they have been looking for a way out of the shutdown since the two proposals failed yesterday.”

The Drudge Report, who seems to have inside knowledge of the announcement, says Trump will announce a temporary end to the shutdown.
CBS’s Major Garrett also reported the shutdown would end, tweeting, “Senior administration officials expect Donald Trump to endorse short-term funding bill to reopen government in next hour. Final details being worked out in WH convos now. Unclear if 2 or 3 weeks. Border debate will continue. Stress on Govt systems was increasing.”

Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders has announced the statement from Trump will be made at 1:30pm EST:
The President will make remarks regarding the shutdown in the Rose Garden today at 1:30pm. This will be an open press event.

Some on Twitter feel Trump’s announcement is suspect, coming hours after Trump confidant Roger Stone was arrested by the FBI:
Trump always makes some big, (usually racist) announcement in the wake of major news in the Mueller probe, as a distraction.
Roger Stone was arrested his morning.
He has a press conference scheduled for later today.

Just so you know, Trump repeatedly jerking us around like this is one of the worst parts of the furlough. Every time he says he's going to make an announcement, he gets so many hopes up that he's going to say it's over, or at least do something for us. https://t.co/ubg29fXVgC [6]

Trump, trying to change the Stone subject, to make announcement about the border this afternoon.

It's being reported Trump is going to issue an announcement. This is to distract from the Roger Stone arrest.
Government will not be re-opened as we all want it to be. Unless some divine miracle occurs. Don't expect that. Trump will see that as a loss, to a woman at that.— Furloughed Fed. Attorney. (@JammedBus) January 25, 2019 [9]
