MyPillow founder Mike Lindell has been effusive in his praise of Donald Trump‘s economy, and has gone as far as to say Trump was sent by God himself [1]. But the current economy isn’t good enough for Lindell, evidently, from having to lay off 10% of his employees.
According to CBS Minnesota [2], MyPillow is laying off approximately 150 employees at its Shakopee, MN factories.
Lindell claimed that the launch of a new venture called MyStore forced his hand and necessitated the layoffs.
“I value each and every one of my employees so this is a difficult decision, however this is what is best right now for the future of MyPillow and to prepare for the launch of MyStore.com,” Lindell said in a statement. “Once MyStore is up and running, we anticipate we will be hiring.”
In a June 2018 op-ed for the Duluth News-Tribune, Lindell — whose MyPillow advertisements are a fixture of the Fox News primetime lineup — wrote that the President’s economic policies were a boon for his company.
“After more than 500 days with Donald Trump as our president — with record-low unemployment and a booming economy — it’s clear, Minnesota, that we can rest easy,” Lindell wrote. “As a proud American business owner, I have seen firsthand the positive changes President Trump’s policies are bringing to our state. Because of the president’s historic tax cuts, I was able to give my employees an immediate across-the-board pay raise to help fuel their lives and advance their careers.”
About two years ago MyPillow was forced to lay off [3] around 140 people.
