Robert De Niro Destroys Trump in Speech: His Imprisonment Would ‘Make America Great Again’

Robert De Niro is at it again.

“You didn’t think you were gonna get away without a fuck Trump moment, did you?”

That was the question De Niro posed to the audience Sunday at the American Icon Awards. In an excerpt of his speech honoring Al Pacino, De Niro went to town on President Donald Trump — saying that his imprisonment would “make America great again.”

“The individual who currently purports to lead America is not worthy of any tribute [unlike the evening’s honorees],” De Niro said. “Unless you think of his impeachment and imprisonment as a sort of tribute. Now that’s how you can make America great again.”

De Niro has a history of going after Trump on television and during award shows. Famously, the Goodfellas star raged against the president at the 2018 Tony Awards.

“I’m going to say this — fuck Trump!” De Niro said. “It’s no longer ‘Down with Trump,’ it’s fuck Trump!”

De Niro has a long history of using his time during speeches at award ceremonies and events to bash Trump.

“I’m happy to stand with Samantha Bee tonight to support the First Amendment — the right of the president to be a relentless and unrepentant, lying scumbag, the right of his supporters to not give a shit, and our right to do something about it,” De Niro said during the Not the White House Correspondents’ Dinner in April.

“It made me sad but it gave me an idea for another film, one in which the world wakes up and has never heard of Trump. That would be a film that would make us all really happy,” he said at the Tribeca Film Festival for the closing night premiere of the Beatles-inspired movie “Yesterday.”
