MSNBC host Joe Scarborough had a rare moment of praise for President Donald Trump on Wednesday, and Trump, ever the cable news fanatic, thanked his former friend.
“Jim Vandehei, a couple weeks ago, when Donald Trump said, ‘I’m young, I’ve got more vigor than them,’ well you know, you look at a clip like that, and he does. He just does,” Scarborough said on Morning Joe, referring to the president’s latest speech.
“Let’s just be blunt about Donald Trump. That guy can do on a campaign stage what nobody else can do: He can engage the audience. He can engage viewers, despite the hateful rhetoric, despite everything else. You can see that guy is gearing up for 2020 and yes, Democrats, he is going to be hard to beat, because he does look like he is about 20 years younger than a lot of Democratic candidates,” Scarborough added.
That praise — though backhanded — earned a hat tip from Trump, who thanked Scarborough on Twitter before adding: “the BRAIN is much sharper also!”
Thank you Joe and remember, the BRAIN is much sharper also! https://t.co/h1fG1GRQ99

The two frontrunners for the 2020 race — Trump, the Republican incumbent and Joe Biden, the Democratic challenger — are both septuagenarians: Trump is 72 and Biden is 76.
Twitter had a field day:
The fact that an obese, bleached blond, spray-tanned gameshow host thinks he can comment on other people's physical appearance says all you need to know about his "brain." https://t.co/FkvSv4SVgV

You are ab ugly old dog who is already in the dementia stage. It won't be long before you won't remember your name. That will be a blessing for the US and world https://t.co/ipIXbw0LFq
