Donald Trump this afternoon blasted the House Ways and Means Committee request for his tax returns, claiming he is still under audit.
Treasury Secretary Steve Mnuchin this week rejected the request from Democratic chairman Richard Neal. The committee has now subpoenaed the Treasury Department and the IRS.
“I won the 2016 Election partially based on no Tax Returns while I am under audit (which I still am),” Trump tweeted this afternoon, “and the voters didn’t care. Now the Radical Left Democrats want to again relitigate this matter. Make it a part of the 2020 Election!”

He followed up with another tweet on the Mueller report, claiming that Democrats talking about obstruction instead of collusion are still wrong because “there was No Obstruction”:
So now the Radical Left Dems don’t talk about Collusion anymore, because the Mueller Report said there was No Collusion, they only want to talk about Obstruction, even though there was No Obstruction or No Crime – except for the crimes committed by the other side!

Last night there were multiple reports that the White House had asked former White House counsel Don McGahn to publicly say Trump didn’t engage in obstruction, but McGahn declined.
Twitter had a field day:
You repeatedly promised to release your tax returns.
The IRS said that an audit didn't prevent you from doing so, and Nixon released his while they were under audit.
A 2016 poll showed that 74% of Americans wanted you release them. https://t.co/lfl5aOPw2P [3]

Or you could just release your taxes.
But we know you won't, #Brokeahontas [5]. https://t.co/zNHXExtTUV [6]

I won the 2016 Election because I hid my tax returns from the pubic.
— Shorter Trump.(of course, he didn't actually "win" the election) https://t.co/avwOP0v9hF [8]

The voters did, in fact, care which is why fewer of them voted for you than for Clinton.

Your supporters like the fact that you’re a criminal conman – Al Capone 2.0.
You wouldn’t have won without Vladimir Putin and you still lost the popular vote.

Voters always cared about your tax returns. You lost the popular vote. What are you so afraid of?

There is literally no reason why you cant release your tax returns if theyre as glorious as you say. Audit doesn't stop it as numerous have proven. Only reason to hide them if you've been lying about your wealth or you've paid 0 in taxes for decades. I'm thinking both. Cash poor. https://t.co/dXCA9Wd2J0 [13]
