Evangelical Christians Are Finally Angry at Trump — But Not For the Reason You Might Think

You might think devout Christians would have a bevy of reasons to dislike Donald Trump.

Like, the fact that he is an adulterer, who is on his third wife. The same wife he cheated on with a porn star.

Or, Christians could dislike him because he is a pathological liar, who lies as easily as you and I breathe.

Hey, they could be angry that Trump is separating families and locking them up in cages, something Jesus would NOT approve of.

But no, they are not angry at him for those reasons.

Evangelical Christians are angry with Trump because said “God Damn” during his rally on Wednesday night, therefore taking the Lord’s name in vain.

“You are going to support me because you are a rich guy, and if you don’t support me, you are going to be so Goddamn poor,” Trump quipped at one point during his speech.

It was just a step too far for West Virginia conservative Democratic senator Paul Hardesty, who is a vocal Trump supporter. As The Charlotte Observer [3] points out, Hardesty was so offended by the slur that he fired off a letter to the White House voicing his displeasure.

After making sure to mention that he’s an unwavering Trump supporter, Hardesty wrote that he was “appalled” by the fact that Trump “chose to use the Lord’s name in vain on two separate occasions…”

“There is no place in society — anywhere, any place and at any time — where that type of language should be used or handled,” he letter stated. “Your comments were not presidential.”

Not a single mention of the moment the crowd chawed “send her back” and Trump’s apparent approval.
