Miss Michigan Claims She Lost Her Title Because She Loves Trump — There’s One Big Problem Though
The 2019 Miss Michigan winner Kathy Zhu alleged Miss World America officials may be discriminating “against people with conservative views” after she was stripped of her title over a handful of “offensive, insensitive and inappropriate” social media posts.
On Thursday, Zhu received notice that she was dismissed as a pageant participant for violating the requirement of “being of good character.”
Officials also indicated that she would be “likely to bring into disrepute Miss World America or any person associated with the organization.”
Zhu, a 20-year-old vocal supporter of Donald Trump, shared a screenshot of the letter she received on Twitter along with her reaction to the news.
Miss World America's State/National/Chief Director accused me of being racist, Islamaphobic, and insensitive.
They stripped me of my Miss Michigan title due to my refusal to try on a hijab in 2018, my tweet about black on black gun violence, and "insensitive" statistical tweets. pic.twitter.com/K1Btho0Pgq

However, Zhu was stripped of her title because she’s an Islamaphobe and racist.
In 2018, Zhu visited a Muslim Student Association booth at her university during World Hijab Day and refused to wear a hijab when she was offered the chance. “There is a ‘try a hijab on’ booth at my college campus,” she tweeted afterwards. “So you’re telling me that it’s now just a fashion accessory and not a religious thing? Or are you just trying to get women used to being oppressed under Islam?”
She also reportedly once replied to another Twitter user saying, “Did you know the majority of black deaths are caused by other blacks? Fix problems within your own community before blaming others.”
Both tweets have since been deleted.
On Friday, she told Yahoo that the organization was at fault for “not vetting me properly before they signed me up for this.”
“They’re not letting people that represent another side of the story represent them,” she said. “They only want someone to say things that people want to hear. And there’s a lot of things in this world that it’s hard to hear, but it’ the truth.”
“It’s not even about a crown or a pageant,” she added, “It’s about the fact that people really do discriminate against people with conservative views.”
Someone called me an islamophobic for not wanting to put on a hijab.
Someone called me a racist because I recognize that black people kill more blacks than police do.
Good luck to those who are as gullible as this.
