Dementia Donnie Claims Baseball Pitcher Born in 1969 Started Playing Baseball in 1955

As baseball player Mariano Rivera entered the ceremony where Donald Trump on Monday awarded him the Presidential Medal of Freedom on Monday, Metallica’s “Enter Sandman” blared over the White House speakers.

The iconic Metallica song the record-breaking closer used as his walk-on music when he came on to close games throughout his baseball career played for more than a minute as Rivera and Trump took the stage.

Trump then introduced Rivera as “the sandman” and told a story of when he explained to first lady Melania Trump why the Yankees legend went by the nickname.

“Because he put the batter to sleep,” Trump said. “A lot of people don’t know that, but the Yankee fans know that.”

Trump during the ceremony praised Rivera as “maybe the greatest pitcher of all time” and offered a narrative of his early introduction to baseball while growing up in Panama as well as the closer’s career accomplishments.

Trump, a longtime Yankee fan, noted Rivera’s community work off the field as well, pointing out that he started a foundation to provide scholarships and school supplies for underprivileged children.

Trump also proved that he’s just as dementia-ridden as ever, when he said Rivera started playing baseball in 1955.

Rivera was born in 1969.
