Dallas Police Call Out Trump’s Lie That 30,000 People Waited Outside Trump’s Rally
Donald Trump held another of his hate-filled fascist rallies on Thursday night, this one in Dallas, Texas.
Trump took the stage and claimed that 30,000 people were waiting outside the stadium to get in, and that his rally broke the record for attendance at the stadium.
Both claims turned out to be lies.
The rally was part of his Keep America Great 2020 campaign tour. The rally’s attendance was expected to be big, with capacity at the American Airlines Center at about 20,000.

On Friday, October 18, the American Airlines Center and the Dallas Fire Department reported there were 18,500 people at Trump’s rally, which is within the 20,000-seat capacity of the arena, CBS News reported.

The Dallas Police reported the day before that about 5,000 people were outside during the rally, including supporters and some protesters mixed in. It’s not clear if the 18,500 count includes those 5,000.
Trump claimed there were “close to 30,000 people” outside his rally last night. Dallas Police tells @KilloughCNN: “We didn’t have 30K outside. Probably had upward of 5K outside.”

Trump has frequently made up stories about how many people turned out at his events.
In February, he claimed that “35,000 people” turned out for his rally in El Paso, Texas.
But the El Paso Fire Department deflated that exaggeration.
“Spokesman says coliseum holds 6,500 and that is how many were allowed in building,” reported El Paso Times reporter Zahira Torres.
