Donald Trump is having a very bad Friday.
Trump has reacted to the conviction of his former associate Roger Stone, blaming the jury’s guilty verdict on a “double standard.”
The president argued some of his political enemies, including Hillary Clinton and special counsel Robert Mueller, were much more worthy of jail time than Stone.
Trump tweeted, “So they now convict Roger Stone of lying and want to jail him for many years to come. Well, what about Crooked Hillary, Comey, Strzok, Page, McCabe, Brennan, Clapper, Shifty Schiff, Ohr & Nellie, Steele & all of the others, including even Mueller himself? Didn’t they lie?…A double standard like never seen before in the history of our Country?”

Twitter was shocked and disgusted:
In the middle of his impeachment inquiry, the President calls for the imprisonment of his political opponents and members of the law enforcement and intelligence community. https://t.co/EW9YcCmnd9 [3]

To recap — in the last couple hours:
-Ex-ambassador says she felt threatened by Trump
-Rudy faces deepening criminal probe
-Stone convicted of obstructing and lying to Congress
-AND Trump defends STONE immediately after his conviction: https://t.co/uG1gwFnnEx [5]— Kyle Cheney (@kyledcheney) November 15, 2019 [6]

Hey, Poker Face: you're PANICKING.
(You'd think a former casino owner would be better about keeping cool under pressure, but your casinos, of course, quite famously went bankrupt.) https://t.co/WSjxzUkKxC [11]

I can see how baffling it must be for this president to see people facing prison time for the mere act of lying. https://t.co/COjatepvwh [13]

The president of the United States complains that the Department of Justice has convicted his closest political adviser and asks why they aren't prosecuting his political enemies. https://t.co/gLaexuJLx4 [15]

Trump often tries to tie "unfairness" to controversial pardons he wants to issue. Safe to say that if he attempts to pardon Stone here, that will become the basis for an additional article of impeachment and one that would be harder for congressional Republicans to ignore. https://t.co/dOyCOizYg4 [17]

The "they' in this tweet is the Department of Justice, which is a part of the executive branch of the federal government.
