Trump’s Bothered That Barron is So Tall Because Trump Wants to be the ‘Tallest in the Room’

According to the book Siege: Trump Under Fire by Michael Wolff, Donald Trump seems to have a fetish about height [1], and once complained that his son Barron was taller than him.

Trump had a “fetish” about being the tallest person in the room and when Barron hit 12 and had a growth spurt, he joked: “How do I stunt his growth?”

Wolff claims that Trump responded to the perceived challenge from his son with “hostility” and “went out of his way” to avoid him.

He wasn’t the only Trump child to get such treatment; Don Jr would be “singled out for ridicule” and Trump would fail to acknowledge his son Eric when they were together, Wolff claims.

Tiffany, Trump’s daughter with Marla Maples, went “unmentioned” but the president would always greet Ivanka, his favorite, with “hey baby”.

Wolff also claims that Trump’s marriage is no more than a business arrangement – for Melania’s part she lived a “separate life” protecting Barron from the “ill wind” his father brought.

When Melania was taken to Walter Reed Medical Center in May last year there was no explanation for 24 hours, which sparked panic in the West Wing.

When asked by his then-chief of staff John Kelly what was going on, Trump told him: “Nobody cares except the media”, adding: “She’s the First Lady, not the president.”

For her part, Wolff claims, Melania has felt deeply uncomfortable in the White House and repeatedly told friends that “we don’t belong here” as she preferred the comforts of Trump Tower.

The author also says that Melania frequently spoke her native Slovenian around Barron as a way of keeping them apart from his father.

And it seemed to have worked since Barron has a Slovenian accent.

It’s fairly well-known that Barron does in fact speak Slovenian, his mother’s first language, and is fluent in the Eastern European language alongside his native English. He apparently learned the language young — in a 2009 interview with PEOPLE, Melania Trump bragged that Barron, who was three at the time, was already speaking Slovenian, and that the toddler also spoke French and English.

There’s little surprise that Barron would speak multiple languages: his mother is a Slovenian immigrant and many immigrant parents teach their children their native tongues.

Interest in Barron stirred quite a few times since his father won the presidency — first, when Rosie O’Donnell suggested that Barron might be autistic [2], and again when a reportedly questionable photo of Barron and Melania surfaced on Twitter.

The initial stories were fairly innocent, but the way people dog-piled onto the stories on social media made them fairly abusive to Barron and his mother. Both instances were, of course, through no fault of Barron himself or even the Trump family, but rather the way people treat those who are thrust into the limelight.

A recently uncover video of the Trumps from 2010 show young Barron, and he speaks English with a very strong Slovenia accent.

Children who are born in the U.S. usually don’t have foreign accents, even if their parents do. Children speak like their peers and school mates.

People who have foreign accents are people who grew up speaking another language and learned English after they moved to the States. And even they can eventually speak like a native American, if they come here early enough.

Barron’s mother has not tried very hard to speak English well and still has her very heavy Slovenian accent, and at least as of 7/8 years ago, Barron had the same accent.

This must mean that Donald Trump didn’t spend much time with Barron as he was growing up. Barron still having a Slovenian accent while living in America means that he was raised almost exclusively by Melania and Melania’s parents.

Now that Barron is in a school with American children his own age, perhaps he has lost some of the Slovenian accent.

A book by Slovenian journalist Bojan Pozar, “Melania Trump – The Inside Story: The Potential First Lady,” says:

Barron almost certainly speaks Slovenian with Melania’s sister Ines, his aunt, who also lives in New York. Ines Knavs was the one who took care of all the paperwork at the Slovenia consulate in New York so that Barron could formally acquire Slovenian citizenship.
