Cipollone LIES, and Sekulow CRIES, Welcome to Trump’s Impeachment Trial

One can always tell which lawyer feels good about the case and which does not.

Pat Cipollone is perfectly executing the role of a defense lawyer, the one that has absolutely no case. Jay Sekulow is a lost and sniveling little shit.

Adam Schiff went through the evidence, went through the dangers, addressed what Trump did, addressed what Trump did not do, he spoke about the danger to the country, and spoke to history. He spoke of the law, and the importance of the proceeding before the Senate.

Then sat down.

Pat Cipollone, and Jay Sekulow then rose to sneer at the entire process, cry about due process, exude disdain for the prosecution, drip condescension, make it personal, put the prosecutor on trial, make it about Adam Schiff, get angry, pound the table, and not once, not ever, address exactly what happened, and justify the defendant’s action.

Speaking of Paul Cipollone, he stood on the floor of the United States’ Senate, in front of the Chief Justice of the United States, and before the nation, flat lied his ass off. He stated that Schiff prevented his Republican colleagues from seeing the evidence in the SCIF. That is an abject lie. Republicans on the appropriate committees attended the hearings, and asked questions of the witness. In any other trial, Cipollone would be facing sanctions by the judge, and would be reminded about that lie every single remaining hour of the trial, to let the jury know that the attorney and his side could not be trusted.

Somehow, we are in a place where the greatest argument is whether the American people get to hear the evidence. It is frightening that Trump has that great a hold over a party, that because Trump fears having any evidence introduced, fears appearing to defer to another branch, fears being anything but “perfect,” his sycophants in the senate dutifully march into the trial and argue that the American people need not see any evidence.

It is breathtaking and it is terrifying. If Trump gets his way on this, and evidence is not presented, thereby assuring that Trump is acquitted with little to no damage, then look the fck out when this thing is over, because Trump will feel that much more untouchable, and if you thought you saw a reckless presidency prior to impeachment, you will not recognize the nation that we inherit from the process.
