TRUMP IDIOCY: White House’s Own Paranoia Led to the Bolton Leak that Could Take Trump Down

File this under: "Only in the Trump White House."

We at the blog often note the unique beauty and elegance in the irony that flows from this White House like a mountain spring. Another occasion “springs” up today.

The Bolton manuscript was leaked due to the White House and Trump’s incompetence, arrogance, and self-obsession. Ultimately, it will likely be Trump that brings Trump down.

I will demonstrate.

We learn first, that neither Bolton nor his publisher provided a copy of the manuscript to the New York Times. Bolton and the publisher have put that assertion in writing. They both risk very serious contractual issues, and possible legal implications if they publicly lie about the leak. Thus, the leak didn’t come from Bolton’s side.

The only other side who could possibly leak it is the White House.

But now we get to the beautiful part. The White House got “one copy” from the publisher, in accordance with the law, to review for classified material. That “one copy” was to remain “one copy” and be reviewed by career professionals within the security state. It should be impossible to leak “one copy” of anything and not have it obvious as to; A) it leaked, and B) who leaked it.

The only takeaway?

The White House copied it, many times. They copied it so many times that they cannot identify the leaker, nor know who else may have a copy or know its contents.

Why would they copy it so many times? Well, for one, they are absolute morons, who apparently not once said: “But if we keep passing these around, it could get out and that would be awful.” More importantly, the only reason to produce dozens of copies would be to ensure that as many people as possible could “use” the material to defend Trump and serve Trump’s interests. In short, Trump wanted to know what was in that damn book, and wanted the whole team to know it all, too, even if the law said that it couldn’t be shared outside the national security review.

The other thing it means? Someone in the White House knows that Trump is f***ing guilty and wants the world to know, too. That someone may have reasons for wanting Trump out that even we cannot comprehend or guess.

In the end, it is a combination of Trump and his staff’s obsession with using “secrets” to protect Trump, and their endless incompetence that could well be their undoing.

Quite fitting, and inevitable, if one thinks about it. Because these exact same qualities led Trump to believe he could shake down an entire nation for his own benefit without any consequences. In the past, when Trump screwed-up, he’d just file for bankruptcy, or divorce. This time, the consequences can’t be lawyered away quite so easily.
