Donald Trump unveiled the logo for Space Force on Friday, the newly established sixth branch of the Armed Forces.
And people immediately picked up on something strange.
“After consultation with our Great Military Leaders, designers, and others, I am pleased to present the new logo for the United States Space Force, the Sixth Branch of our Magnificent Military!” Trump tweeted Friday afternoon, attaching a picture of the logo.

George Takei says the team behind “Star Trek” is “expecting some royalties” from the design of the Space Force logo.
Takei — who played Hikaru Sulu on “Star Trek” — was one of several social media users to point out distinct similarities between the Space Force logo and that of the Starfleet, the fictional organization on the TV series.
Takei quipped to his 3 million Twitter followers:
Ahem. We are expecting some royalties from this… https://t.co/msYcJMlqjh [3]

It’s take long for the President* to become a laughing stock:
THIS IS THE STARFLEET LOGO! THE U.S. GOVERNMENT TOOK A THING FROM A TV SHOW AND MADE IT THE OFFICIAL EMBLEM OF A BRANCH OF THE MILITARY. https://t.co/H2W2vYrshh [7]

Either this is a joke or he's about to become the first president to get sued by Jean Luc Picard https://t.co/zoOgPQLJDX [9]

This is a joke right? Seriously?
A. Space Force is some shit that Matt and Trey would come up with to mock the government.
B. This is the Star Trek "A" isnt it?
C. If they are going with this logo, please give The President the red shirt, those guys don't last long https://t.co/mYlClcYbqc [17]— Christopher 2020 Titus (@TitusNation) January 24, 2020 [18]
There are Americans who can't afford food or healthcare.

Are you sure Melania didn't steal it from Star Trek, like Michelle Obama's speech and the 'Be Best' campaign?
Or maybe "Space Force" is that new show with Patrick Stewart? (@SirPatStew [21]) pic.twitter.com/dqG2BOlql5 [22]

Swell, now taxpayers get to pay for lawyers when you're sued by Paramount and the Roddenberry estate… pic.twitter.com/hd7RM20BYZ [24]
