The Daily Beast is breaking a bombshell report [1] this Monday night, early Tuesday morning, involving a right-wing group that came together to plan disinformation operations, and covert activity directed against Democrats generally, and even a plan to wiretap and surveil the grieving Seth Rich family.
According to the Daily Beast:
“One of their topics was responding to online critics of wealthy Texas businessman Ed Butowsky, who had recently been outed as a driving force behind a retracted Fox News story about murdered Democratic National Committee staffer Seth Rich,”
“The group that gathered at Butowsky’s home included a conspiracy theorist, a Fox reporter fighting for her career, a former private intelligence contractor married to star journalist Lara Logan, and a Democratic PR operative who lost his business in the face of sexual assault allegations.”
In the group were two notorious internet “dark arts” practitioners, Thomas Schoenberger and Manuel “Defango” Chavez, who had launched a company that promised “elite” use of bots to sow “targeted chaos” in order to defend its clients online. Sound like a group that anyone you know would want to hire? Maybe a president?
Regardless, back to the story:
“According to some attendees, the solutions discussed at the September get-together went to extremes,” The Beast reported. “Three people who attended the gathering said the group even discussed the possibility of wiretapping and surveilling Rich’s grieving parents.”

This is the sickness we are up against. The Republicans are wholly at ease with a dictatorship and fascism. Once one makes that deal with the devil, then the devil’s tools become justifiable, even desirable. This is where the country stands now. One party fights itself, demanding purity tests and determining that this is the perfect time for an entirely new social revolution, while the other party is completely at ease destroying people, lives, laws, norms, and democracies, all to retain power.
If this vignette doesn’t paint a picture as to where the country stands right now, I don’t know how else to frame it. The Democrats and the non-Trump Republicans are holding on to democracy for dear life, and people like those referenced in this story don’t care about lives, nor countries. They care about power, and will stoop to any low to keep it.
Please keep that in mind when deciding for whom to vote in the Democratic primary. The only goal right now must be to rid the country of these people for good. If we don’t remove them from power, they will remove us, period.
