Mick Mulvaney Blasts the Media for Not Covering Barron Trump — Despite Melania Saying Barron is Off-Limits

Acting White House chief of staff Mick Mulvaney criticized the news media for refusing to cover what he described as Donald Trump’s loving relationship with his 13-year-old son, Barron, the New York Times reports.

“He said Mr. Trump is in frequent contact with his youngest son, calling to check in on him and let him know of his whereabouts. But, Mr. Mulvaney said, ‘the press would never show you that because it doesn’t fit that image of him, the press wants him to be this terrible monster.’”

But this is odd, because Melania Trump has previously said any talk of Barron is strictly off limits.

“Mr. Mulvaney’s decision to discuss Barron Trump was curious, especially when Melania Trump, the first lady, and senior White House officials have gone to great lengths to make sure he enjoys the privacy afforded to other children of presidents growing up in the uncomfortable spotlight of the White House. The White House press corps has generally agreed to grant Barron Trump the same privacy.”

In December, Melania Trump responded to Stanford law professor Pamela Karlan invoking the name of her son during the House Judiciary impeachment hearings.

“A minor child deserves privacy and should be kept out of politics,” Melania said Wednesday on Twitter. “Pamela Karlan, you should be ashamed of your very angry and obviously biased public pandering, and using a child to do it.”

The tweet was a rare public statement from the first lady, who does not often comment publicly.

When the New York Times asked the White House about Mulvaney’s comment, they said “no comment.”

We don’t know much about Donald Trump’s relationship with his youngest son Barron, but from what we do know, they don’t seem to be particularly close.

According to the book Siege: Trump Under Fire by Michael Wolff, Donald Trump seems to have a fetish about height, and once complained that Barron was taller than him.

Trump had a “fetish” about being the tallest person in the room and when Barron hit 12 and had a growth spurt, he joked: “How do I stunt his growth?”

Wolff claims that Trump responded to the perceived challenge from his son with “hostility” and “went out of his way” to avoid him.
