Kushner Demands Tenants Continue to Pay Rent During Pandemic — While Also Asking for Leniency from His Creditors

I have this game I often play called; “Whom in the White House do I disdain the most beyond Donald Trump?” And it’s not an easy game at all. Each day it seems one of the players charges ahead, looking to put some distance between themselves and the rest of the contestants.

There is no question that today it is Jared Kushner. According to a report in Rawstory [1], Washington Post reporter David Fahrenthold said on MSNBC this morning that Jared seems to have a dual-track in handling the economic crisis before us. He is demanding of the people who owe him money while pleading for more time from his creditors. In other words, he’s being Jared or Trump, no difference anymore.

Joy Reid asked:

“Rather than relax the rent requirements for his tenants, and some of his tenants are in tough positions, in Maryland and other places, that they are enforcing to the maximum that they want their money. What about his income? A lot of it does come from being not the best landlord.”

And Fahrenthold answered:

“I’m not the world’s expert on Jared Kushner, but I have read that,” said Fahrenthold. “At the same time, the Kushner Company is asking for leniency from its lenders — there’s a retail space in Times Square that I’ve read they’re having trouble making the payments on. So they’re forcing others to make payments while trying to get out of it themselves.”

Of course they are. If one wasn’t that ruthless, one wouldn’t be a Kushner, a Trump, or even working within that White House. As frustrating as it might be, it won’t be Kushner’s tenants that get bailed out when the economic hit really comes, but Kushner surely will.
