He is going too far.

It came up again today. Trump seems obsessed about the masks in New York City and some sort of facts that he believes constitute war-profiteering is happening “out the backdoor” of the hospitals. And according to Trump, the people who must be doing it are the heroes in New York attempting to save lives.

My partner is an NYC doctor.

He’s working hard. Often overnight. His colleagues are under tremendous strain. They’re working every day to save lives.

And:

It is outrageous. Because this is the level of proof that Trump has, which constitutes a conspiracy that he has addressed twice now in two different press conferences within three days:

Trump suggests, providing no evidence, that there is something nefarious going on with New York's use of a large number of masks: "Something's going on, and you oughtta look into it. Where are the masks going? Are they going out the back door?"

That is nothing, no proof, no facts, nothing specific.

There is no question that there are people out there looking to profit off shortages. Every war has a few true “winners,” those that got rich by hoarding necessary goods. I am positive that there are instances of such happening somewhere.

But as seen above, Trump has absolutely no proof that it is happening within the hospitals in New York, where people are busting their asses trying to save that same city. It is insulting to hear it from the President of the United States.

BUT:

IF Trump truly had evidence that there was a problem and that there was suspicion that someone was doing something illegal and selfish (which could kill), this man has the FBI at his disposal. There is no better police force in the world, no one more professional or better educated than the FBI – though yes, they take a lot of flack, too. But on the whole, this would be the department that could find it, and then turn it over to the DOJ to prosecute it.

But Trump doesn’t believe in laws or facts. He lives in a world of rumor and reputation. Right now he is satisfied to use innuendo and “rumor” to tarnish the very people on the front lines of this fight. So he orders the media to “look into it” as a deflection from hard questions directed at him – he throws the heroes under the bus.

It is disgusting. Get involved with an investigation if you think it is happening, or STFU about the people busting it to save lives.
