Watch Sanjay Gupta’s Jaw Drop When Trump Says “People With Coronavirus Should Go to Work”

That is not a contrived title. “Your president” said last night to Sean Hannity – known White House consultant according to an FBI document dump we covered last night – Trump said that most people with Coronavirus should be able to continue to go to work.

Rawstory has [1] a nice outline (Video Below):

CNN’s Sanjay Gupta on Thursday appeared to be legitimately shocked after hearing President Donald Trump tell Fox News’ Sean Hannity that people who have coronavirus [2] should be fine to continue going to work.

After host John Berman played a clip of Trump telling Hannity that many coronavirus patients [3] can get better on their own while still going into the office for work, Gupta’s eyes widened and his jaw dropped.

Trump likes to compare the virus to a flu virus, and that is fair enough for our purposes right now. I have had in the flu in the last 5 years, and let me just testify that it is not something you want to work through. Indeed it becomes very clear as to why so many people do die of the flu. Not only does one not want to go into work, no one at work wants them there, either.

Given that there are so many unknowns about this disease – other than the fact that it is highly contagious, and has a higher mortality rate for elderly people with compromised immune systems and respiratory disease – it seems to be the height of irresponsibility to say that people who have the virus should continue to go to work. But since the CDC isn’t going to put out a press release tomorrow saying “To clarify, the president misspoke last night, it is not true that people with the virus should continue to go to work,” the message will get out there.

Of course, Trump has a bigger worry than an epidemic. He has to worry that the economy will suffer, thus causing him to suffer. Thus his messaging might be a little different than the CDC’s.

Anyway, America’s neurosurgeon, Sanjay Gupta, had trouble processing what he just heard. One could almost see the wheels working in his mind, trying to figure out if there’s a neurosurgical issue to be addressed with Trump. The horrified look probably accompanied the conclusion that there is not.

Peace, y’all
