Mitch McConnell is up for reelection this year in Kentucky and he is doing all he possibly can to get voted out of office. McConnell doesn’t seem to grasp the scale of the economic disaster about to fall upon the country. Yesterday he came out favoring allowing “blue states” to go bankrupt over receiving more federal help. This, of course, comes after bailing out big corporate America. It is not going over well with the public, nor with other politicians.

It is even more offensive when you recognize that New York and other “blue” states put more into the federal budget than they take out. Red states like Kentucky suck more federal dollars up than they put in. For McConnell to bail out corporate America while saying that blue states should go bankrupt is … typical McConnell.

To be sure, the “let blue states go bankrupt” may sound like a winning message for McConnell back home in Kentucky, but he cannot escape the fact that he jumped in to help corporate America, and wanted to leave the poorest Americans significantly poorer ($600 versus $1200) before he ever got the idea of leaving blue states to go bankrupt. It will be all too easy for Amy McGrath, his opponent, to point out where Mitch’s heart lies.

I genuinely believe that McConnell – for once – has misread the nation, just like Trump has, and will pay a heavy price for even entertaining the thought of letting “blue states” go bankrupt, especially when they support his state.
