Americans Furious After Trump Falsely Characterizes Voting as an ‘Honor’ When In Fact It’s a RIGHT

This ought to terrify absolutely everyone.

Trump is infamous for playing a dummy who shouldn’t be taken seriously and floating out “trial balloons” that are often taken as a sign of stupidity, rather than a plan.

But I think we should take Trump at his word here, that he believes and wants voting to be an honor for those chosen to vote, and not a “right” for everyone.

One of the few, very few, mistakes that the framers made in the constitution was not making the right to vote express and explicit. Instead they chose to determine who could vote, and the following Amendments expanded on that model.

Regardless, voting is a right and isn’t to be “discriminated against” based upon poverty, race, gender, whatever, and it is not an “honor” reserved for those the Republican party deems deserving.

We have seen it time and again, where conservatives (not always Republicans because southern conservatives used to be Democrats, but always conservatives) have tried to suppress the vote by making it an honor, poll taxes, literacy tests, voter ID, and you can bet your ass that Donald Trump wants to judge who should have the honor to vote.

Americans are furious and rightfully so.

Exactly. The constitution sets out that you cannot discriminate, and thus it isn’t an “honor” in any way. That is a right.

He is on TV right now saying that he doesn’t want “election fraud” and “if there is a reason” to have mail-in ballots, that’s okay – but he doesn’t want to take any chances of fraud. He is going to claim fraud anyway if he loses, bank on it. Additionally, I think we can safely say that any “fraud” he has planned, he has planned it at the election polls themselves.

He sees himself as having that honor.

Exactly.

Still.

I am terrified of this next one:

Scary.

Take him seriously on this.
