Michigan Attorney General Says Trump Is No Longer Welcomed in Michigan After Flouting Mask Rules

Say what one wants about the state of Michigan, it sure appears to me that the state that went to Trump in 2016 by the barest of margins, and swung straight to the left in 2018 to make up for it, has some extremely competent leadership, made up of women.

The state that has brought us one of the most impressively strong governors in this crisis, Gretchen Whitmer of the “Do follow Science Party,” has brought us what sounds like an equally impressive the current attorney general. A.G. Dana Nessel isn’t happy at all that a president came into their state and breathed out in his puffy way, without the mask that state law requires.

According to Rawstory:

On CNN Thursday, Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel, who had warned President Donald Trump to follow the law on protective equipment at his speech at the Ford plant, suggested he will not be allowed to hold similar events going forward, and that she will be speaking to Ford about its failure to enforce the law and their own policy.

“Is the president no longer welcome in Michigan?” asked anchor Wolf Blitzer.

Well, I would say speaking on behalf of my department and my office, that’s exactly right,” said Nessel. “Today’s events were extremely disappointing and yet totally predictable … the president is like a petulant child who refuses to follow the rules. I have to say this is no joke.”

No, it is not a joke, and yes – she is exactly right. He told reporters he wasn’t wearing a mask precisely because he didn’t want the reporters gathered to get pictures of him in a mask. Trump is just that vain. As we’ve already reported today, it would seem that he would die before he wears a mask because someone said it was a good idea.

He will take a drug that doesn’t work but might kill him, but not a mask. The drug doesn’t spoil the view of that beautiful face.

“I think the message he sent is the same message since he first took office in 2017, which is, I don’t care about you, I don’t care about your health, about your safety, your welfare. I don’t care about anyone but myself,” said Nessel.

Exactly.

I think that we’re going to have to have a serious conversation with Ford in the event that they permitted the president to be in publicly enclosed places in violation of the order. They knew exactly what the order was and if they permitted anyone, even the president of the United States, to defy that order, I think it has serious health consequences, potentially their workers. This was a lengthy negotiation and discussion between the UAW, the big three auto manufacturers and our governor to ensure if people went back to work they would be safe.

So now Ford might be on the hook for the presidential trip. Nice. I told you that this state has real leaders. This is their state and they were elected by Michiganders, and they’re going to do it the way they do in Michigan no matter how many people with AR-15s show up and threaten Whitmer’s life.

Peace, y’all
