Trump Just Mocked Joe Biden for Wearing a Mask and Americans are Disgusted
Trump has simply continued his descent into self-humiliation, the same one he’s shown throughout the weekend. He retweeted Brit Hume’s most asinine comment in some time. Of course, the object of their scorn was a leader doing what leaders do, demonstrating responsibility, Joe Biden.
First, we’ll set this up.
This is not the first time that Fox’s Brit Hume has made a total ass of himself on Twitter with comments that are clearly biased – Fox used to think it was above such comments, that was their supposed claim in being different.
Brit Hume manages to stand out even in that crowd. He is no Judge Jeanine, but he’s sure working at it.
Anyway:
This might help explain why Trump doesn’t like to wear a mask in public. Biden today. pic.twitter.com/9l1gw1ljBE

What kind of asshole comments on how someone “looks” with a mask on? As if that is even the slightest bit relevant? Trump, for one, isn’t above descent into embarrassing himself, that’s for sure.
He retweeted the above tweet.
Now, others have fired back at Trump with more focused anger and intensity. We will start with the invaluable Molly Jong-Fast:
I mean it’s not like there’s a pandemic raging and killing Americans.

Trump politicized public health and people will inevitably die because of it
— Molly Jong-Fast🏡 (@MollyJongFast) May 25, 2020
Exactly. It is relevant that Trump doesn’t seem the least bit “moved” by the losses. As hopeless as Trump has been through his entire tenure, it was still conceivable that the number of deaths might have been a gut punch. Now, that highly unlikely outcome seems almost laughable.
Hume got a response from a real journalist:
This is a perfect and perfectly revealing tweet. Thank you!

Wearing a mask is not about protecting you. Even in the reddest state down low, the people in grocery stores and gas stations seem to appreciate the effort. Others? Not so much.
99,804 Americans are DEAD and you're complaining that Biden tried to set an example today?
Perhaps he should have gone golfing? pic.twitter.com/WCSUT1odbp

Again, the lack of introspection, sadness, sense of loss, it is staggering and it comes from the Right without shame.
Serious anger:
Is this not an attractive enough look for you Brit? Would a ventilator be better?

A good one below:

A great point by another Mississippi Democrat:
Hey Brit, nobody “likes” wearing a mask (okay, maybe Batman does), but responsible people in positions of leadership do so anyway.
— David Baria (@dbaria) May 26, 2020
There is far more anger in this Twitter thread than usual and far more responses. It is worth looking over.
People are furious that Trump mocks Biden for doing what a leader should do:
Trump retweeted this. The message he’s sending is that how he looks is more important than public safety.
I expect more from my neighbors, much less the President of the United States. https://t.co/ZK9syx21Rc
— Renato Mariotti (@renato_mariotti) May 26, 2020
A President takes measures to protect others. That's what a mask does.
That's what a competent President would have done, months ago: on testing, on PPE, on social distancing.
And many fewer Americans would be grieving today. https://t.co/MoDU0qvtMV
— Ronald Klain (@RonaldKlain) May 25, 2020
Of course @realDonaldTrump retweeted it.
It's all about vanity to these idiots. Not that they may help prevent the spread of a deadly virus or something.
Amazing. https://t.co/uP8fuWqEGC
