‘He’s Finally Building The Wall’: People are Taunting Trump Over New Barriers Around White House

It would appear that Trump has come out of the bunker, but only having now “secured a greater perimeter,” as massive new fencing constructed overnight puts even greater distance between the protesters and the White House.

It is wonderfully symbolic with respect to Trump’s cowardice, no different than the “bunker,” and it’s being mocked with all the intensity it deserves, but …

But there is one serious concern.

Once “walls” or divisions like this are erected, they rarely come down, even if life returns to “normal.” Once authoritarians take away freedoms due to an “emergency,” those freedoms aren’t given back, the emergency never ends. The strongman retains the power as it becomes normalized. (Story continues below.)

That is a concern. Additionally, any “danger” is diminishing and could be addressed by a caring president. For now, this is what Trump fears:

For now, the symbolism is too delicious to ignore. Bunker boi has come out because he’s moved everyone beyond shouting distance. He is still a terrified little man. Oh, and perhaps he can get Mexico to pay for his new fence.

Yes, it is perfect symbolism and irony. But it isn’t “his house,” it is our house and he shouldn’t be able to “wall off” our house for his own purposes.

Yes, only this one still has his minders, or at least babysitters to care for him. The poor children on the border had no one. Trump always takes care of himself.

As we said, the more Trump acts as if he’s the “owner” of the White House, the more his people will see him as someone with a right to rule. We are in dangerous territory. He has already threatened to call out federal troops.

Only if it keeps Trump inside. It might only cost Mexico $10,000 and might serve as good protection. Actually? Trump is screwing this country up to the point that perhaps Mexico will end up wanting that damned wall, to protect itself.

This is our hope. But with each act that separates Trump from being a “public servant,” he grabs more and more power for himself. Watch out in November. This all seems like a dry run. Practice.
