Trump Says His Biggest Accomplishment as President is a Law Signed by Obama in 2014

Last night, Donald Trump did a “town hall” on Sean Hannity’s program. By any measure, the event was an utter disaster.

We’ve already reported upon Trump bragging that he’s a “perfect person” and failing to provide a single program or policy that he wants to enact if reelected. Even Hannity looked humiliated at times.

But imagine what the response might have been if Fox News been willing and able to fact check Trump in real-time, when Trump bragged that his most significant accomplishment as president was an act signed into law by Barack Obama in 2014?

We can only wonder how the audience would have reacted had they heard, “Sir, Mr. President, it was President Obama who signed veterans’ choice into law in 2014.” It would be wonderful to hear Joe Biden remind a debate audience when the time comes because he was there.

“Veterans’ Choice” was signed into law by Barack Obama, according to Wiki:

Chairman of the House Committee on Veterans Affairs Jeff Miller [3] said that “many of the provisions included in today’s Senate-passed bill are based on ideas that have already cleared the House, so I’m hopeful both chambers of Congress can soon agree on a final package to send to the president’s desk.” Miller was referring to the Veteran Access to Care Act of 2014 (H.R. 4810; 113th Congress) [4] which contained similar provisions and passed the House on June 10, 2014.

The House and Senate established a conference committee to agree on amendments to the bill. The committee met on June 24, 2014. The House voted to agree to the conference report on July 30, 2014 with a vote of 420-5 in Roll Call Vote 467 [5]. The Senate voted to agree to the conference report on July 31, 2014 with a vote of 91-3 in Roll Call Vote 254. [6] President Barack Obama [7] signed the bill into law on August 7, 2014.

As Trump says, it was very hard to do, they tried for 50 years, going back into the 1960s, when it was becoming apparent that the post-WWII VA hospitals were difficult to run, for years everyone knew the system needed to be changed. Then it got done … under Obama.

Cool story, bro.
