Lindsey Graham Rebukes Trump’s Attack on NASCAR: ‘I Don’t Think Bubba Wallace Has Anything to Apologize For!’

It was just this morning that we reported on the fact that the GOP Senate has simply given up on straightening Trump out. Given Trump’s falling poll numbers they are done protecting him and beginning to protect themselves. It was only hours later that we see Lindsey Graham pounding back on a ridiculously racist Trump tweet.

It may seem obvious that Graham has to reject this, but we’ve seen Lindsey cling to Trump on some bizarre shit in the last couple of years. This is a break and it is coming at a time when the GOP knows that the nation is rejecting Trump’s divisive racism and wanting to take the next step in the evolution toward a better country.

As we reported earlier, Trump tweeted:

Now listen to Lindsey Graham spit this back in Trump’s face. Race relations will be a huge issue in the race and Graham just drew a line. From Rawstory:

“I don’t think Bubba Wallace has anything to apologize for,” Graham told Fox News Radio’s Brian Kilmeade. “I do say this about the drivers, even though it was a noose created to hold the door open, in the times in which we live, there’s a lot of anxiety, so what did you see? You saw the best in NASCAR. When there was a chance that it was a threat against Bubba Wallace, they all rallied to Bubba’s side, so I would be looking to celebrate that kind of attitude more than being worried about it being a hoax.”

My god. Lindsey Graham, who is an irredeemable soul no matter what he says, just went on Fox News – the voice of the Right – and punted Trump’s answer right off the field. Indeed, shockingly, Graham gave the exact same answer we wrote earlier today.

Lindsey then took on the flag issue and rejected Trump 100%:

“NASCAR made a decision to ban the Confederate flag inside the infield and NASCAR arenas,” the senator said. “They’re trying to grow the sport. I’ve lived in South Carolina all my life and, if you’re in business, the Confederate flag is not a good way to grow your business. The idea that Bubba Wallace, who is I think the only African American driver, was upset by somebody finding a noose in the garage made perfect sense to me. So what I would tell people from outside of South Carolina that NASCAR is trying to grow the sport, and one way you grow the sport is you take images that divide us and ask that they not be brought into the venue. That makes sense to me.

He just said Trump is 100% wrong. EVEN IF Trump is so racist he wants that flag at NASCAR, it’s still bad business. No wonder Trump failed so often in business!

We said it was coming, an example of it only took two hours. We will certainly see much more of this type of rejection of Trump. Now we wonder if the GOP will reject Trump’s answers on the bounty sought by Russia. It could well happen.
