One might ask to whom is Mike Pence speaking when he says that “you” will not be as safe in Joe Biden’s America. We can list the people who will be safer in Biden’s Americ; people susceptible to COVID – which is near everyone, children, women, black Americans, LGTBQ friends, Muslims, agnostics, immigrants, people clinging to the ACA (Obamacare) for health insurance, non-billionaires, people working close to minimum wage, people concerned about global warming and the environment, the United States military deployed in Afghanistan, peaceful protesters, people who believe in science, mask wearers, and people that believe Trump has failed the United States. We realize that is nowhere near a complete list.
And so who does Pence believe might be safer in Trump and Pence’s America? It leaves white, straight evangelical men (and not all), the Stepford wives who love then, those with middle-to-upper class wealth, and people who run businesses predicated on what amounts to slave labor. That’s it, that’s the list – unless one wants to count embryos, and since the GOP refuses to protect kids, we’re not inclined to count embryos, we prefer to count live women and live children.

This quote comes out just as stories are breaking about federal troops – we presume they’re federal troops, though can’t confirm since they don’t wear badges – in Portland that pull up in rented vans to “arrest without probable cause,” aka “kidnap,” people expressing their First Amendment Rights. “Safer” – for whom?
In short, if you look and act like Mike Pence it is possible that you will be safer in Trump’s America (but don’t forget COVID, it’s already been in the White House.) But since America is looking less and less like Mike Pence and more and more like Kamala Harris, or Ari Velshi it is disgusting that Pence would make such a statement. What did the Minneapolis police do to George Floyd to make American safer?
