Americans Horrified After Geraldo Rivera Proclaims Trump a ‘Civil Rights Activist,’ ‘Are You F*cking Kidding Me!?’
As millions of Americans remain unemployed and protests against racial injustice continue, Geraldo Rivera wants to know all about Donald Trump’s feelings and how HE is handling these tumultuous times.
Rivera interviewed Trump on his radio show Thursday, asking him all sorts of ridiculous softball questions about where he’ll give his Republican National Convention Speech, how his wife Melania feels about Trump being bullied, and all of those crazy “boaters” Trump loves so much. And in the end, Trump made a very big Election Day promise that he has no say in fulfilling.
Rivera’s interview spun from topic from topic, during which Trump promised him DACA, the program protecting immigrants brought to the U.S. as children, was “gonna work out.” Trump then accused former Vice President Joe Biden of being “against the Bible,” which is ridiculous because Biden is a practicing Catholic, and rambled on about he “didn’t know” John Lewis “at all” when asked why he didn’t go to Lewis’ funeral.
Still, Trump repeated his crazy lie that he’s done more for Black people than anyone, giving Abraham Lincoln a “possible” exception. That prompted Rivera to call Trump a “civil rights activist.”
Trump repeats his ludicrous assertion that he's done more for Black people than anybody with the "possible" exception of Abraham Lincoln. Geraldo pronounces him, Trump, a "civil rights activist."

Then, in perhaps his most outlandish assertion, Trump said he was expecting there to be a coronavirus vaccine by Election Day. “If you had another president, other than me, you wouldn’t be talking vaccines for two years,” he said. Experts say it’s unlikely there will be a vaccine this year, while Dr. Anthony Fauci has said he’s cautiously optimistic about it. And when it comes to his actions on the coronavirus so far, Trump said he doesn’t really have any regrets.
As you could imagine, people were sickened, especially that Rivera would label Trump a “civil rights activist.”
Subtext of Trump asserting he has done more for Black people than anyone since Lincoln is the implicit "but they don't understand that." It's racist whitesplaining of the most odious sort. https://t.co/63sMTBOffu

He is outright treating Black people as if they are only criminals. His comments about "doing more for Black people" only relate to prison reform. Nothing more. He won't even say "Black Lives Matter." He constantly attacks Obama. Not someone who has "done more for Black people."

Callin' Trump a "civil rights activist" is like callin' @GeraldoRivera a "journalist." https://t.co/fQgcuX1VA7

In 89 days, the cult leader will lose by a lot and all of his cultists will wail. I can’t wait. https://t.co/Xtu4XxHzcl

tRump a "civil rights activist"?!?! You have to be fucking kidding me! Geraldo's making a fucking fool of himself again, just like with Al Capone's vault. https://t.co/wjiMrW06IK

That line is so insulting to Black people. The fact that he thinks prison reform is a favor to Black people is equally disturbing. I expect for trump to just say, “what else do the Blacks want from me? They are so ungrateful!”

How is standing up for the Confederate flag and attacking those protesting against racial injustice doing something good for the Black community? How does insulting John Lewis make Trump a “civil rights activist”? Trump is an activist against civility.
