Christian Republicans Warn Other Christian Republicans in Brilliant Ad: ‘Trump Is Using Us’

One of the stories of this election season has been watching the conservative “never Trumpers” teach Democrats how you win elections in this country, or at least how to frame elections. Republicans are used to being the minority, they are used to needing a compelling narrative to get people out, they are used to needing maximum motivation. They are also damned good at planting doubt in people’s minds. We are watching all this come together as some Republican Christians tell other Republican Christians to wake-up!

The Republican Voters Against Trump organization went straight at the heart of the Trump base, the white evangelical Christian men, and asked them how it was that Trump fit any of their beliefs or ideals in “Trump Is Using Us.” (VIDEO BELOW)  According to Crooks and Liars:

According to the Pew Research Center survey in July, white evangelical approval of Trump has slipped, but 8 in 10 say they would still vote for him.

The recent release ad, entitled “Trump is Using Us,” features six Republican voters who talk about how Trump uses and manipulates Christians.

In the minute-long video posted on the Republican Voters Against Trump YouTube channel, the group explains that the president doesn’t reflect Christianity or values based on his words and actions.

One major highlight of the video was the comments Trump made following a violent white nationalist rally in Charlottesville, Virginia, in 2017. At the time, he said there were “very fine people on both sides” when talking about protesters and rally-goers.

They also brought up Trump retweeting a man shouting “white power!” on his Twitter page.

This is how one turns a base against a candidate, and we should be taking notes. But the other people that should be paying attention are within Trump’s base – and ads like these force them to ask themselves hard questions.
