Conservative Pastor Rick Wiles Claims WH Shooting Was an Assassination Attempt by Democrats

Right-wing Christian broadcaster Rick Wiles is known for propounding some pretty bizarre conspiracy theories and he was no less bizarre on his “TruNews” program Monday night when President Donald Trump was pulled out of a press conference by a secret service agent after another agent shot a man outside the White House. And of course, this happened while Wiles was in the middle of his broadcast.

Wiles is a rabid anti-Semite and conspiracy theorist who’s received White House press credentials and he used the shooting as a chance to accuse the Democrats of trying to assassinate Trump despite the fact that he had no knowledge or, of course, evidence to support this. But the facts rarely ever get in Wiles’s way.

When the news broke, Right Wing Watch notes, Wiles exclaimed “you have to now take into consideration the possibility that somebody in the press pool would attempt to kill the president.” Returning to the story a few minutes later, he pinned the blame for the shooting on the Democrats.

“This is the Democratic Party platform of 2020: Try to kill the president,” he said. “The same people, the same party, the same spirit that killed Abraham Lincoln. Look, the Democrat Party started the Civil War. The Democrat Party was the party of slavery, of segregation. Its roots were in the Jacobin revolution. If you go back to the history, to the beginning of the Democratic Party, you will find early Democrats who extolled the virtues of the French Revolution and the Jacobins.”

For Wiles, this was a chance to fear monger and malign the Democrats.

“There’s a spirit over that party, in that party, that has its roots in the Jacobin revolution, and in slavery, and in assassination,” he said. “It has brought violence to this nation. Shots fired outside the White House while the president was speaking! That was a message to the president of the United States. That was a warning. …Shots were fired as the president was speaking. Is this a coincidence? No. It’s very evident what’s taking place. The president’s life is in danger.”

This is a man who previously asked White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows to encourage Trump to use bullets purchased by federal agencies during the Obama administration on protesters. He’s claimed, “God-hating Communists” are running the U.S.

Wiles is about as nutty as conspiracy theorists get and I’ve included the clip below, which demonstrates this perfectly.
