One delegate at the Republican National Convention uncorked a level of crazy that puts him right up there with Alex Jones, [1] Rick Wiles, [2] and Paula White, [3] all of whom are known for making bizarre claims. But the following claims made by Louisiana delegate Ross Little Jr., after being called on at the convention, are a special kind of weird because he portrayed Democratic Presidential Joe Biden is a gun-swiping, baby-murdering monster.
At first Little Jr. attacked Biden for trying to put Louisiana’s oil and gas industry “under the yoke of bondage,” Raw Story [3] reports.
Not content to stop there, he ramped the situation up, claiming Biden is “threatening” anyone who owns firearms and that Biden is lurking and waiting for those unborn babies, The Daily Beast [4] reports.
“Louisiana, also the home of thousands of hunters across our state, where Joe Biden would threaten with taking away guns and ammo,” he snapped, in full rant mode. “Louisiana is a pro-life state where we love both mother and child, but where Joe Biden is hiding in the dark waiting to take the lives of our unborn babies!”
It’s true that Biden introduced [5] a sweeping plan for gun control during his campaign that includes universal background checks, a ban on assault weapons, additional resources for strengthening the enforcement of existing gun laws, and a push for “smart guns,” as well as incentives that encourage states to adopt “red flag” [6] laws, which allow courts guns to confiscate guns from people who are considered to be a risk to themselves or others.
And as The Washington Post [7] noted in July, gun violence is at epidemic levels with at least 305 mass shootings, more than the number of mass shootings in 2013 and 2014 combined. Since the Post’s report came out there have been several more mass shootings and the number now stands at 395, the Gun Violence Archive [8] reports.
Biden is also not a rabid abortion-rights supporter. In the past (1973), he said [9] a woman shouldn’t have the “sole right to say what should happen to her body.” But like most people, he’s grown quite a lot over the years and now says he plans to codify [10] Roe v. Wade to make it a federal law and wants to resume funding for Planned Parenthood, an organization that’s lost [11] millions of dollars under the Trump administration, which has taken every possible chance it can to defund [12] the organization that provides help to poor families in the U.S.
It should be obvious that nutters like Little Jr. are just that — nutters. Biden’s not coming for yer gunz or your kids, America. But he is coming for Trump, who likes to throw little brown children in jail [13] and play golf while mass shootings are still a thing in this country.
