The Trumps Donated Thousands of Dollars to Kamala Harris When She Ran for California A.G.

Well this is awkward.

Yes, the wealthy donate to political campaigns all the time and it doesn’t necessarily represent an “endorsement” in anything more than the actual dollars, yet it is, on paper, an endorsement. The Trumps “endorsed” the Harris campaign to be attorney general of California back in the day, and one would think that they had their reasons:

Fascinating.

So not just Donald Trump, but Ivanka, too. One wonders what kind of influence Ivanka sought to “purchase” with her donation?

Don’t worry, Harris knew enough to not keep the money:

So Trump’s donation ultimately went to support an organization that fights for civil rights? It sounds like Harris has the right priorities.

There is a dispiriting aspect to the revelation and that is that it reveals how the wealthy in this country play the political “game.” They can talk about party politics and put down various politicians and causes in public, but if one is wealthy enough, one will also do what Trump did – grease the skids in the campaign so as to buy oneself influence and perhaps special treatment under the law. Meanwhile, Harris accepted the money even though the second donation was well into the birther period in Trump’s “political life.”

It just goes to show what money does in American politics. But these donation should help absorb many of Trump’s criticisms. IF Kamala is so awful, why did Trump donate so much money to her in her run for attorney general? There were other candidates. There isn’t much he can say, though he’ll certainly try.
