Donald Trump Jr. Defends Kenosha Protest Shooter: ‘We All Do Stupid Things At 17’

Don Jr. isn’t normal.

We have all heard that Kyle Rittenhouse has become a hero to the far-right and it shouldn’t surprise anyone. After all, Rittenhouse took his assault rifle, one he wasn’t lawfully allowed to carry but that’s not a problem for them, Rittenhouse traveled across two states to a town with which he had no connection, and promptly gunned down two “leftists,” killing them. “So what’s the problem?” says the Right.

That is the problem.

Trump has led this country down the road this far. As we’ve written before, Trump wants his followers to see other Americans as their greatest enemy, much more so than any citizen from a foreign nation. The rationale is straightforward. Opposing Trump makes someone an enemy, especially where those opposed to him can dispose of him as president. Rittenhouse just shot two enemies.

It wasn’t smart, but Don Jr. says that most 17-year-olds do things that aren’t smart, so again – what’s the problem?

Yes, it is beyond stupid, it’s damned close to murder. If would be murder if Rittenhouse wasn’t being harassed and chased. That doesn’t mean he is innocent in self-defense. You have the right to defend yourself with equal force with which you’re met. If a guy chases you with a skateboard you’re not allowed to shoot the guy in the head. That isn’t how it works.

But again, the far-right, Trump’s people, won’t ever turn on anyone who supports Trump with that kind of conviction. In the same way that they won’t turn on Q-anon, they’re not about to turn on Rittenhouse, either. He gunned down two leftists, it might not have been the smartest thing, but it’s not evil, either – according to Don Jr. We all did stupid things at 17.

Trump took us to this place, where violence on the streets is considered normal and acceptable if the target is right. He also created the monster that is Don Jr., and it’s not likely a coincidence.
