At some point over the last week, a team of – we’re guessing – five to six people, using supplies that might have cost one-thousand dollars, built a ramp to the U.S. Navy battleship that Trump toured today in Wilmington North Carolina. It was not a difficult engineering matter, it’s just ridiculous that it ever occurred to anyone that this was very important.
Someone, whether it was someone in the Trump campaign, or Trump himself, figured out that there was a fairly long, gentle ramp, to and from the ship. That person’s thoughts immediately went back to the last time that Trump had to navigate such a daunting physical challenge. Trump is still hurting from the video and mockery that resulted from him needing a general to guide him by the arm down the ramp at West Point. And the person made a determination that no camera was going to get a picture of any difficulties this time, damn it!
They tented the ramp to the USS NC for his visit today so we couldn’t see him lose to yet another ramp. It’s never had a tent in the 35 years I’ve lived here. pic.twitter.com/CteWPkaaBv [1]

Obviously there is no official statement that the tent was built to shield Trump’s walk from the cameras. We are inferring it because … because that tent looks built for a president and there would be only one reason we can think of to build it. Trump would be more exposed to possible attack while on the ship or in the area than the ramp. Of course, it was built to keep the video from getting out if Trump had a problem.
Just last week Trump came infuriatingly close to having his political career end with a fall on some stairs to a stage. Given the pattern and the chronic problems that Trump appears to have, we suspect we’re going to be seeing far more of this type of thing. There will be increasing attention to shielding Trump from accidents. We suspect it’s been going on for some time. Trump is generally already sitting in a chair when the media is allowed in, or he stands at a podium gripping it for dear life, very little in between.
We contacted the man who sent the original tweet showing the ramp, and asked him his background and how he knew the ramp was new, etc. Here is his response:
I work as a movie camera technician and have spent lots of time filming on the ship. I was there only 3 weeks ago shooting a commercial. I’ve also visited it frequently my entire life.
The ship sits moored across from the Wilmington Nc riverfront, and the ramp is visible.

Anyone walking along the river walk can see that there’s never a tent. I took that photo from inside my car while briefly parked on Water St.
If you live here and frequent downtown, you would notice something different about the ship. It’s a landmark.

This is the view from the battleship. As you can see, it’s highly visible at all times. pic.twitter.com/ZHrogUdL9i [5]

Some folks had some other observations:
Dementia Alert- Trump is losing his balance & having difficulty walking. It’s part of the symptoms of his degenerative neurological disease- Frontotemporal dementia. They tried to hide it w a white bubble tube over the ramp up to the USS NC. He was probably assisted in the bubble https://t.co/h9jUDSZGIy [7]

They built a whole ass tunnel around the ramp up to where Trump was appearing today in an effort to hide his struggle to walk up and down.#RampGate [9] https://t.co/32mOSHArpK [10]

Did you guys see this buffoonery!?! They put a tent over the ramp to the USS NC for Trump’s visit so no one could see him lose balance on yet another ramp! #somuchwinning [12] pic.twitter.com/F2UKpTRHU8 [13]

Trump hid his school records, his medical records, his business affairs, his extra-marital affairs, his tax returns and now his walk up a ramp on a Navy Battleship. He’s a fraud and a huckster in Cuban heels. @realDonaldTrump [15]

Trump and Barr furiously trying to overwhelm the news with garbage so journalists don’t ask questions about Trump needing a wheelchair to go up a ramp to get on a ship today.

We suspect we’ll be seeing a lot more tents, a lot more covers, hidden entry/exit ways, a lot more “seated interviews” with all risk of a fall taken out.
