Melania Has the Gall to Tweet About Gold Star Families After Her Husband Called Them ‘Suckers and Losers’

Melania is not yet divorced from Donald Trump, perhaps because the more we read from the Times, the more it sounds like she might be the one stuck paying alimony. But she sure seems divorced from the Trump reality.

As a testament to just how easily Trump makes enemies by saying the wrong things and hating on people who don’t support him, Trump found a way to anger and disrespect Gold Star families. And he managed that accomplishment even before he became president! All of this happened before he was reported to have called dead American heroes suckers and losers.

The Trump relationship with our nation’s “best” is dicey, “at best.”

But that didn’t stop Melania from using her Twitter account as yet another Trump campaign commercial in a desperate attempt to erase that awful past. This morning she tweeted out that it was such an honor it was to meet with Gold Star families at the White House yesterday:

We will forever cherish their memory so long as it’s not raining and our hair won’t get wet, she did not add – but could have.

It is not like we’re criticizing her for taking part in a White House ceremony to honor families of our fallen heroes. It is quite literally the least she can do. But when she advertises it on her Twitter account it feels more manipulative than a genuine attempt at honoring them. Was there some reason that they couldn’t honor the families that attended and yet not send out the video in what looks like some crass attempt to erase the many mistakes he’s made in the past?
