Trump Campaign Uses Images of Russian MiG Fighter Jets in ‘Support Our Troops’ Ad on 9/11 Weekend

How does this happen?

We should pose the question a little more accurately because the answer to the above question is starting to become clearer. Time and again, we’ve reported on Trump campaign ads – almost always video – using stock footage of Russian soldiers or Ukrainian individuals. This has happened at least 3-4 times over the course of Trump’s campaign, to the point that if this is accidental it belies some of the most incompetent people to ever work in … anything, or it involves intentional trolling. There are also some dark possibilities but nothing is proven.

Politico reports [1] that a Trump campaign ad run on 9-11 used the outline of a Russian fighter jet:

A digital ad released by a fundraising arm of the Trump campaign on Sept. 11 calling on people to “support our troops” uses a stock photo of Russian-made fighter jets and weapons.

The ad, which was made by the Trump Make America Great Again Committee, features silhouettes of three soldiers walking as a fighter jet flies over them. The ad first appeared on Sept. 8 and ran until Sept. 12 [2].

Yeah, the plane is a MiG-29 and the soldiers are carrying AK-47s. One doesn’t even need to have been brave enough to serve to know that those aren’t American weapons. Those are Russian.

As we’ve reported before, this keeps happening. How so?

Well, Politico says that the picture is off Shuttershock.com and is produced by a company in Andorra, a country that has a population about the same as Hattiesburg MS, and thus one can get real conspiratorial here … or one can just start wondering whether the people paid by the Trump campaign are simply trolling them at this point. How hard is it to use “United States Military” in your Shuttershock search? It is evidently too hard or … this is intentional.

We cannot know. We only know that this is a pattern that just keeps going. Is someone trying to tell us something? Or does the RNC and Trump campaign farm this work out to people who naturally reach for footage from the motherland? We don’t know.
