Trump Says He’s Not Concerned About Covid at Rally Because ‘I’m On a Stage and It’s Very Far Away’

The indoor rallies aren’t a big deal. Ask Trump, he’s not concerned.

This is just so sick that it is hideous. And yet somehow one almost has to laugh out loud. Trump’s interview with the Las Vegas Journal [1] is just so “on-brand” Trump that it’s pathetic and what passes for humor in the Trump era.

Trump says that indoor rallies are safe. He is very protected from the hordes, so please stop worrying:

“I’m on a stage and it’s very far away,” Trump said. “And so I’m not at all concerned.”

Oh, well, thank god for that.

This is the man who wants to deny that he lied to the American people about the deadliness and danger with respect to COVID because he “didn’t want to cause a panic.” Frighteningly, it is probably almost true. A panic would have hurt his campaign – at least in the short term – by panicking the markets. Trump is just too stupid to think more than 72 hours at a time and he couldn’t comprehend how the market always catches up, and people always catch the disease eventually. But by then we guess he figured he could lie about it. God knows that the last thing he wanted to do was bunker down and work to do a great job and help his campaign. That wasn’t an option.

Nevada’s governor Steve Sisolak appropriately went nuts upon hearing that the self-absorbed president planned on spreading the deadly virus indoors among Nevada citizens, for whom the state of Nevada will soon be paying monstrous ICU fees that wouldn’t be incurred were it not for Trump. Plus, people will be dead. There’s that. In response, Trump called Sisolak a “political hack” who is supposedly trying to “rig” the state’s election against him. Trump is willing to get his supporters sick and then complains about rigged elections will – without any sense of irony – call another guy a “political hack.”

As we said, all of it just so elegantly on-brand.
