Former Chief of Staff John Kelly Unleashes on Trump, ‘The Most Flawed Person’ He’s Ever Known

It took watching The West Wing for most of us to appreciate the power of the White House Chief of Staff. Most of us, probably figured that the Secretary of Defense, State, Justice, someone like that, was the second most important person in the nation. Most people knew it wasn’t the VP until Cheney and Biden when they had important roles.

It took The West Wing for us to figure out that Leo McGarry and then C.J. Cregg, to realize that, no – actually the second most powerful person in the country is the White House Chief of Staff, the boss of all the employees IN the White House. That role, in and of itself, didn’t make that person the second most important person. It was the fact that the Chief of Staff was often the first person to speak to the president in the morning and the last at night. (With the exception of the real 2nd most powerful which is the First Lady, except quite obviously in this White House).

John Kelly became so very easy for us to despise as Chief of Staff. He had to take Trump’s position. He didn’t take the job to fight publicly with Trump, which is what we would have liked when he was out front. He took the job in the hope that he could prevent Trump from nuking North Korea and Iran in one day to “send a message,” don’t “fck with America” or we’ll literally “fck you up.”

Something like that.

Well, excactly 18 days before the election, one of the people that knows Trump best (and, let’s face it, he should’ve said on the day he resigned) has come out with quite the assessment of Trump. Careful, this is brutal here, think Pulp Fiction, without the r-rated words:

Former WH COS John Kelly has told friends, about Trump: “The depths of his dishonesty is just astounding to me. The dishonesty, the transactional nature of every relationship, though it’s more pathetic than anything else. He is the most flawed person I have ever met in my life.”

Let’s review some words, describing a 74-year-old man, not a 24-year-old man:

-Astounding dishonesty
-Transactional nature of every relationship (what can you do for me? If you want me to do something for you? Never once thinking “this could be good for the U.S.”)”
-More Pathetic
-Most FLAWED
-EVER MET IN MY LIFE

This man, Kelly, was a general in the United States Army. At some point, he had to make some kind of judgment call over someone who may or may not deserved to have continued to serve in the military. Trump is MORE FLAWED than that person.

Thing is, I DO NOT believe that Kelly is engaging in hyperbole. I believe he is saying that Trump has a “gift” for this type of stuff. I believe Kelly is saying that Trump isn’t quite as stupid as we all think, it is just that his intelligence is all geared to being an awful person.

That is what Kelly is saying and he should have said it 90 minutes after resigning. But we’ll take whatever we can get.
