Andrew Anglin is the founder of the neo-Nazi website Daily Stormer and it won’t shock anyone that he’s long been one of Trump’s strongest supporters. Despite the fact that Trump can’t figure out what the “big deal” is in saying “Stand Down and Stand By” to Neo-Fascist groups like the Proud Boys, these groups don’t seem to have any trouble figuring out what Trump means. Anglin easily interpreted Trump’s “Stand back and stand by” phrase as a clear call to arms.

Anglin wrote on his site that the words – as a command – “gave me shivers.”

According to Mediaite:

Anglin a lengthy, gushing commentary about Trump’s performance in Tuesday night’s presidential debate, and particularly the moment moderator Chris Wallace and former Vice President Joe Biden pressed Trump to explicitly condemn white supremacists and right-wing militia groups.

“Proud Boys, stand back and stand by,” Trump said, in a remark that prompted widespread outrage — and online celebration from that extremist group’s members. You can count Anglin in the latter category.

Anglin described the exchange, then tried to temper some of his writing by noting that Trump “didn’t condemn anyone, and he didn’t tell them to stand down – he told them to stand back and to stand by.”

But this is terrifying:

Anglin wrote that he interpreted the remark as “wait until I give the signal,” then added “I got shivers. I still have shivers. He is telling the people to stand by. As in: get ready for war.”

Get ready for war. Yes, that is exactly why the press asked Trump and his team about the question all day yesterday because people knew exactly how the phrase would be interpreted by the Proud Boys and others. These groups are already following Trump’s instructions – getting ready for war.

Were that not bad enough, Trump told them when that “war” might even begin, noting that “there are lots of problems in Philadelphia.” Trump knows that he has to win Pennsylvania or he has no way to win the presidency. In Pennsylvania, Philadephia is a heavily Democratic area. Trump also knows that there will be a lot of mail-in ballots coming from the Philadelphia area in Pennsylvania and should those ballots start moving the state into Biden’s column, the worry is that Trump will call upon his “army.” And that they are ready.

There just isn’t a lot of nuance here, no matter how “stupid” Trump plays it. The people to whom he’s speaking know exactly what he’s saying. And they are ready.
