Kayleigh McEnany Whines to Trump’s Buddy Hannity That Twitter is ‘Holding Her at Gunpoint’ Until She Deletes Tweet
Twitter briefly locked White House Press Secretary Kayleigh McEnany out of her account after she shared a dubious New York Post story about Joe Biden’s son, Hunter that relied on unverified documents that were provided by Trump’s attorney, Rudy Giuliani. McEnany’s account was locked Wednesday evening but restored Thursday morning, The Hill reports.
This woman already seemingly has a persecution complex, so of course, she took to Sean Hannity’s Fox News program to complain.
“They essentially have me at gunpoint and said unless you delete this story, a news story by The New York Post, I cannot regain access to my account,” she told Hannity.
“This was a news story with emails, pictures of the emails,” she said, adding “Even the Biden campaign does not dispute the authenticity of the emails.”
But that’s not all she had to say.
“Meanwhile, the Ayatollah of Iran [has tweeted] ‘death to Israel.’ This is permitted on Twitter, but an email that is reported by the New York Post, a credible outlet, you’re not allowed to share that information.”
I’m going to jump in here with this: Media Bias/Fact Check has some interesting things to report regarding the Post’s credibility. You can check that out here.
The Post story claims the emails show that Biden’s son Hunter arranged a meeting between his father and a Ukrainian businessman who was on the board of a company where the younger Biden worked. Joe Biden has said he’s never been involved in his son’s business dealings and the emails have not been independently verified, The Hill reports.
One official who worked for the Biden campaign during this time told The Washington Post said the meeting never happened.
“I was with the Vice President in all his meetings on Ukraine,” said Michael Carpenter. “He never met with this guy. In fact, I had never heard of this guy until the New York Post story broke.”
McEnany’s deleted tweet read “[NEW] Email from Ukrainian executive to Hunter Biden asks ‘Hunter to use his influence’ on behalf of the firm paying him $50K/ mo in email with subject ‘urgent issue’ obtained by @nypost Father @JoeBiden was in charge of Ukraine relations at time.!!”
Twitter determined that tweet bypassed the social media giant’s rules because the Post story contained un-redacted information so it briefly locked McEnany’s account, which has more than 5.7 million followers. When the tweet was deleted her account was allowed to post again a spokesperson said.
Twitter also locked Team Trump, the Trump campaign’s official Twitter account, and the New York Post’s official account as well on Wednesday. Here’s the Trump Team’s offending tweet below:

McEnany continued to complain during her appearance on Hannity’s show, even dragging Facebook into the mix.
“This is not the American way,” she said. “This is not how a freedom-loving democracy operates. We have to hold Twitter accountable, and Facebook too, who is banning the transmission of this story simply because ideologically it hurts the side of the aisle that silicon valley prefers. It’s sad, it’s censorship. This is not America.”
Then she added a dire warning:
“And make no mistake: If they can ban the press secretary of the United States for President Trump, they can ban you as a citizen, and that is pathetic.”
But even Twitter co-founder and CEO thought perhaps his own company took things a bit too far.

These concerns are all well and good, but the Trump campaign continually spews misinformation, and this brief interruption in that is really a very tiny drop in an enormous bucket. You can bet this will continue in the days leading up to the election. And perhaps beyond.
