Watch Mitch McConnell Laugh About Refusing to Pass Coronavirus Relief for Millions of Americans

If you’ve ever wondered if Mitch McConnell is evil, here’s your evidence: During Monday night’s debate where he squared off with Amy McGrath, he laughed openly when McGrath grilled him about the Senate’s failure to pass additional coronavirus measures that would have provided help for Americans struggling as the pandemic continues. Then he deferred blame for the lack of any meaningful action on the Democrat-led House, according to BuzzFeedNews.

McGrath, who’s a former Marine Corps fighter pilot was on the job when she questioned him about the Senate’s irresponsibly and laggardly handling of the situation.

“The House passed a bill in May and the Senate went on vacation,” she told McConnell.

That prompted him to laugh.

The Senate enjoyed a one-week Memorial Day recess after rejecting a nearly $3 trillion coronavirus stimulus measure that the House approved earlier in May, and that’s what McGrath was talking about.

“You just don’t do that. You negotiate.” McGrath said as McConnell continued chuckling. “Senator, it is a national crisis.”

Then she really laid into him:

“You knew that the coronavirus wasn’t going to end at the end of July. We knew this,” McGrath said. “If you want to call yourself a leader you’ve got to get things done. Those of us who served in the Marines, we don’t just point fingers at the other side. We get the job done.”

That prompted a bemused smile from McConnell, who responded “Nobody went on vacation.”

Yeah, right. What a jerk.

Here’s the thing I’ll never understand: McConnell was elected to the U.S. Senate to represent Kentucky in 1984, where he’s been ever since. For the life of me, I can’t figure out why Kentuckians continue to vote for this obvious scumbag. I really can’t. Maybe he has connections I don’t know about, but somehow he keeps getting reelected. And it’s not because he’s kind or caring.

Coal mining is a major industry in Kentucky but McConnell has rarely ever been there for coal miners. He’s just jerked them around, for the most part, and is the very face of Big Coal in that state. He’s another one of those shmucks who offer “thoughts and prayers” whenever people are killed by gun violence and like far too many other right-wing politicians, are in bed with the National Rifle Association (NRA).

That’s the kind of person he is. What’s really offensive is that during the debate, it almost seems like McConnell, who’s the Senate Majority Leader, is laughing at McGrath. Like so many other women, she’s probably used to white male derisiveness but his behavior here was truly offensive.

This was not lost on McGrath’s fellow progressives in the social media.

You can watch McConnell acting like the total jerk he is in the video below.
