Jared and Ivanka are quickly proving the maxim, “You can never go home again.” We wrote up the entire issue regarding Ivanka’s expectations about moving back to New York just days ago, saying in effect that she will not be forgiven for her actions. Ivanka is safe only within well buffered MAGA zones. Now, New York Times columnist Frank Bruni says it is time for Ivanka and Jared to think more globally, and that the United States may no longer really be an option for the two of them.
As noted by Mediaite [1], in an article entitled “Was It Worth It, Jared and Ivanka?” Bruni wrote that the pair are unlikely to stay in Washington, D.C. because “there’s nothing more pathetic than lingering at a party once the music has stopped.”
The music was once pretty loud, because according to the article:
They chose to tether their fortunes to her father’s, chose to go along for the ride, chose to see how far it could take them [2], because what if it took them all the way? What if Ivanka became the first female president, something that Manhattan acquaintances of hers assured me that she fantasized about, a giddy possibility that her father floated out loud.
Of course, they did because that’s how they think, legacy-minded, royalty, blue bloods, all that.
But now Ivanka has to figure out where to go “home,” because this has become an interesting question. Where is home to these two? Jared dumped on NYC itself when COVID hit, calling it a blue state problem, having no special interest in protecting the city he calls home and the place in which he owns that billion-dollar white elephant on 666 Fifth Avenue.
One would think that Mar-a-Lago is the obvious choice, but Bruni notes a significant problem with the choice:
Ruling out Trump’s Florida resort Mar-a-Lago because Ivanka and Melania Trump “play together about as sweetly as Andrew Cuomo and Bill de Blasio do,” and New Jersey because it lacks “glitz,” Bruni went on to suggest North Korea or Saudi Arabia.
“I have suggestions. North Korea, for one. Ivanka has met its ruler and been to the Demilitarized Zone. She wouldn’t have to ask for directions,” he declared. “Saudi Arabia. Jared and Prince Mohammed bin Salman are spiritual twins, conjoined by their sense of superiority.
There is not a chance in hell that the couple ends up in North Korea. Saudi Arabia, though … at least it likely has a Tiffany’s, and other boutiques that Ivanka considers necessary in life and the couple can rely upon MBS making extradition to the United States … difficult.
