Crazed MAGA Media Man Lou Dobbs: ‘Republicans Lost Because They Forgot Who Their True Leader Was’

There are many legitimate reasons one could cite as contributing to “why Trump lost.” The first, best, and last reason should be that Joe Biden, Kamala Harris, and the rest of the Democrats were just that good. But we don’t expect that sort of analysis by any of the MAGA media-types. No, that type will find someone worthy of “blame,” not praise.

There is no bigger MAGA media type than Lou Dobbs, the man who once signed off for a weekend by humiliating himself and his country, thanking President Trump for making things like weekends possible, thus it should be no surprise that Lou Dobbs has the single most ridiculous excuse.

The Republicans forgot their daddy.

Really. In describing McConnell and the rest of the Republican establishment, Dobbs says they forgot “their leader” and it’s why they lost in 2020:

“These people have become petty and vindictive and really are not honoring the guy that is the only good thing to happen to the Republican Party in the last four cycles,” Dobbs claimed, while notably ignoring the large Congressional majorities the party won without Trump in 2010 and 2014 and the House Democratic “blue wave” in 2018 when he was president. “Think about it. They lost in 2008. They lost in 2012. They would have lost in 2016. And they did lose this year because the Republican Party forgot who was the true leader.”

I suspect that all of us can at least stipulate to one hard truth here. The GOP did not lose in 2020 because it didn’t remember “who was the true leader.” Indeed, one could more accurately claim that Trump and the rest of them lost in 2020 because Trump was the only leader. Trump was a jealous lover of power and he wasn’t about to let anyone have it without ensuring that Trump enjoyed the benefits.

Dobbs also thinks that it’s unlikely that Trump will start a third party:

Dobbs said that while Trump may be saying now it’s unlikely, he thinks “the idea of a third party, just as motivation for the Republican RINO leadership, would be helpful.”

Oh, we suspect that Trump will be all-in on “motivation” whether it comes through a third party or not. Dobbs evidently hasn’t been watching any of the GOP Senate interviews or actions. Forty-five GOP Senators seem to believe that Trump is still their leader, voting that an impeachment trial is unconstitutional.

Trump will be the leader of the MAGAs until the MAGAs either figure out they’ve been conned or are dead, whichever comes first. Whether the MAGAs are in the GOP or not remains dependent on whether Trump believes his personal interests are best served by the GOP or not. Everyone in the GOP knows who leads the most reliable voters, the “fighters,” so to speak, which is why they still consider Trump their “leader.”
