Marjorie Taylor Greene Kicked Off Twitter Due to Yet Another Threat: ‘I Encourage All Americans to … Mobilize’

Well, that didn’t take long.

Twitter suspended Marjorie Taylor-Greene’s account for 12 hours. Unfortunately, she wasn’t suspended for being an irredeemable dolt, MAGA head, Qanon, gun nut, though – of course, that should be plenty, and it’s all pretty redundant. No, she was suspended for organizing what sounds like another threat.

This tweet was quickly deleted and is one of the reasons for the suspension. (More below)

“I encourage all Americans, not just the 75 million people who voted for President Trump, to mobilize and make your voices heard in opposition to these attacks on our liberties,”

Her suspension will lead to more wailing from the Right that, their voices are being censored, and they’ll once again claim a violation of their First Amendment rights. She has no more a First Amendment right to be on Twitter as Bernie Sanders or the staff from Political Flare to be on Hannity. But that’s a pretty complex explanation and unlikely to persuade any of them.

CNN sets out more of the facts:

Twitter on Sunday temporarily suspended the account of Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene for repeated violations of new rules the social media platform put in place following the violent US Capitol riot earlier this month, a company spokesperson told CNN.

“Repeated.” It might be a good idea for Marjorie to look up the definition of that word since she’s likely to hear “repeated” a lot in her tenure. It seems as though a lot of these MAGAs have but one gear and thus “repeated” will continue to get in their way.

Greene, who has a track record of incendiary rhetoric and ties to the baseless QAnon conspiracy theory, had tweeted a conspiracy-laden thread earlier Sunday about the Georgia Senate elections. Some of the tweets earned labels from Twitter noting: “This claim about election fraud is disputed, and this Tweet can’t be replied to, Retweeted, or liked due to a risk of violence.

Twitter limited her and that tweet more than Trump ever got until he was put in orbit. But we’re talking about someone who can go pound for pound on crazy with Trump.

At least with respect to Twitter, it would seem that we’re off to a good start.
