Melania Trump Sets Up ‘Be Best’ Office at Mar-a-Lago Which is Completely Pointless and Dumb

Really?

Yes. Melania just created a “Be Best” office as past-FLOTUS at Mar-a-Lago. We are at a loss to explain. Despite the fact that Trump got a lot of flack for starting the office of the former president, every president starts such an office and retains a staff. It is budgeted in and expected. We have yet to hear of a First Lady taking a staff and retaining an office. Perhaps it’s happened but …

We have previously noted, the “Be Best” cause started out as a fantastic idea, but quickly suffered from three massive problems. One, Melania diluted it such that “Be Best” seemingly encompassed whatever last went through Melania’s plastic head, it was about online bullying, it was about child-wellbeing, it was about opioids …. Two, Melania really couldn’t be bothered to do much, we went months without seeing her at an official event, and – well, “Fock Christmas” sorta sums it up. Third, she had absolutely no legitimacy urging people to “Be Best” when her husband was literally the worst and Melania, herself, got all snitty with the media quite frequently.

But now Mel wants to start fresh? Yes, according to CNN:

Her intention is to “maintain ‘Be Best,’ ” said one of the sources, Trump’s loosely defined initiative that looks to help children. During her time in the White House, “Be Best” existed as a broad, three-pillared initiative, consisting of children’s health and well-being, safety online and prevention of social media bullying and the impact of the opioid crisis on children.

“Loosely defined” is a great description, though charitable. If one’s cause is to be “for” everything good, then you don’t have a cause. Good thing, because Melania never staffed herself with anyone to really work on an actual cause:

Trump often did little to help clarify or expand on her platform during her time in the White House, often going weeks between Be Best-focused public events. The East Wing policy office was not robustly staffed, at times sat vacant, and at most had one full-time, dedicated East Wing employee.

Why do we believe that there were far more people dedicated to pampering Melania and organizing her travel? Far more people organizing video shots and handling social media? Perhaps we just know Mel a little too well at this point. Thus, we can say fairly comfortably that the same woman who never had more than one full-time policy employee doesn’t need “one” now. Except:

Trump’s post-White House office will consist of three of her White House staff members, the sources confirmed to CNN. Hayley D’Antuono served for four years as the former first lady’s director of operations and trip supervisor, and is now Trump’s chief of staff.

So, wait.

Melania didn’t have more than one person responsible for all policy initiatives while she worked in the White House, but now we’re supposed to believe that she needs three to do the work for that same cause now? We aren’t buying it. It sounds to us like someone who desperately wants to remain relevant. We also suspect that those three people are going to be spending far more time booking travel, organizing salon visits, getting clothes cleaned and …we’re going to be really angry if and when we find out that the public pays their salaries.

We will see. But, we don’t trust Mel. Never have. She is a Trump.
