Trump Invents the ‘Office of the Former President’ in Florida and People Can’t Stop Laughing

If you thought that Donald Trump would become less venomous once he was out of the public eye, guess again. Having retired to Florida, he’s now setting up The Office of The Former President, which will serve as a vehicle for future public appearances and statements, The Hill reports.

The office will manage the former president’s correspondence, public statements, and other official activities, according to a press release from the office.

“President Trump will always and forever be a champion for the American people,” the release said.

So was he being a “champion” for the American people when he let more than 350,000 of us die from a devastating pandemic he did nothing to prevent? What part of that says “winning?” I mean, to be a champion you have to win at something. This is a man who stayed silent last December when COVID claimed a record 2,804 American lives in one day, The Guardian reports. Did he “win” at building his racist border wall, or in exacerbating the previous administration’s incarceration of innocent children whose parents attempted to cross a border that should be non-existent?

Of course no one knows if he’ll attempt another run at the presidency in 2024 but the title of this new office indicates he might not. Who really knows? Let’s hope he doesn’t. That really could be the nail in the coffin for the U.S. if he becomes president again, and while he has kept pretty quiet since leaving office, having been banned from Twitter and suspended from many other social media platforms, it appears he has been stewing in his own juices.

He didn’t have much to say to a Washington Examiner reporter who questioned him at his golf club in the days after leaving office but now that he’s in Florida, he’s surrounded by several loyal aides, and there are those who say he’s planning to support primary challenges against Republicans whom he believes wronged him as he ran unsuccessfully against President Joe Biden.

Whom has he likely set his sights on? Georgia Governor Brian Kemp and House Republican Conference Chairwoman Liz Cheney (Wyo.), who voted with nine of her Republican colleagues to impeach Trump earlier this month.

He’s currently preparing an impeachment defense team for next month’s Senate trial but hasn’t commented on it publicly.

We can surmise that while he hasn’t commented publicly, he’s growing more venomous by the day because this is a man who thrives on anger and hate. Sometimes it almost seems this is his reason for living. He’s trying to make sure that while he’s gone, he’s definitely not forgotten.
