Election 2020

Bitter Melania is Furious That Jill Biden Has Already Been on the Cover of Two National Magazines

Now that she and her husband have become private citizens again, Melania Trump apparently regrets the fact that the situation didn’t end well for her in Washington. She’s also “bitter” that our new First Lady, Jill Biden has already hired her own staff and has appeared on the cover of two national magazines.

But she’s not blaming herself for her unpleasant departure, The Mercury News reports. Instead, she’s drowning her regrets in daily visits to the spa at Mar-a-Lago, where she reaps the “benefits at her disposal” — massages, manicures, facial treatments, and other items.

“She goes to the spa, has lunch, goes to the spa (again), and has dinner with Donald on the patio,” one source acquainted with the former first lady’s schedule told CNN’s White House correspondent Kate Bennett. “Rinse and repeat. Every day.”

Melania is keeping to a schedule that’s similar to the life she led before Donald Trump became president, reported Bennett, who wrote a biography of the former first lady. Prior to Trump’s presidency, Melania led a reclusive life residing in a penthouse in Trump Tower in New York City.

But Trump’s actions have split the country deeply as he undergoes his second impeachment trial, where he stands accused of inciting the deadly Jan. 6 siege of the Capitol building in Washington, D.C. This has led to one big change: The couple no longer feels welcome in New York’s liberal high society and this is why they have retreated to Trump’s resort in Palm Beach, Florida.

Bennett notes that Melania prefers to avoid coverage of the trial, and the spa makes a convenient place for her to do that.

But she’s also spending time working on her “Be Best” campaign and has reportedly set up an office, Bennett noted, adding that working to help children may be an effort on her part to repair her flawed reputation. Bennett added Melania departed the White House with the worst favorability ratings ever recorded for any modern first lady.

Probably one of the biggest things that damaged her reputation was her cool response to the Capitol siege. Although she didn’t take part in her husband’s fiery rally that preceded the attack, she was reportedly doing a photoshoot at the time while the rampage occurred and it took her five days to issue a statement denouncing the bloodshed.

Other sources have told Bennett that Melania is sometimes “bitter and chilly” towards Trump because she believes his constant efforts to push fraudulent election claims have hurt her image. But she’s also out-of-sorts because Jill Biden has quickly set up shop in the White House’s East Wing, having already held seven events or speaking engagements, and she’s also been interviewed numerous times. This even includes an interview with Parents magazine, where the longtime community college professor discussing the challenges for families homeschooling their kids in the age of COVID-19.

Donald Trump often lamented before his Twitter account shut down that his wife never appeared on magazine covers during her four years as First Lady. Less than a month after becoming first lady, Dr. Biden graced the cover of PEOPLE with her husband, the new president, and was featured in an article for Parents magazine. She also recorded a televised message with her husband that aired before Super Bowl LV.

Jill Biden’s energetic assumption of duties is in direct contrast to Melania’s delayed start — she famously waited five months to move to Washington, D.C., claiming all the while that she did this so that her young son, Barron, could complete his school year. However, other reports say she delayed her White House arrival so she could renegotiate her prenuptial agreement with Trump.

I don’t know if that last part is true or not, but Melania’s also done things like mocking kids in detention camps and stood by as her husband did some pretty horrible things — including inciting the riots, promoting racism, and supporting white nationalism.

So if she’s unhappy, all I can say is this all on her.
