Franklin Graham Says That Democrats are Trying to ‘Erase’ Everything Trump Has Done

Evangelist Franklin Graham and right-wing commentator Todd Starnes are all up in the feels this week over their favorite guy, former President Donald Trump because Democrats have introduced a bill that seeks to ban him from being buried in Arlington National Cemetery.

Lamenting this in a Facebook post, Graham shared a link to his friend’s site and bemoaned the Democrats’ distaste for a man who arguably does NOT belong in this cemetery that honors those who set aside their fear and devoted their lives to fight for what they believed in. Money is the only thing Trump believes in and he did whatever he could to dodge serving in Vietnam, and that according to his former attorney, Michael Cohen, included making up injuries, like, say, bone spurs.

But in Graham’s world, Democrats are “compelled by hate,” in their opposition to Trump.

“For four years they have been more concerned with trying to hurt former President Donald J. Trump than anything else—and they’re still at it,” he complained in his post.

The measure, introduced by Congresswoman Linda T. Sanchez (D-Calif.) and dubbed the “No Glory for Hate Act,” (HR 484), doesn’t specifically mention Trump but seeks to block any “twice impeached” president from receiving recognition on federal land, DeadState reports. The bill would also bar federal funds from being used for building a dedicated “highway, park, subway, federal building, military installation, street, or other federal property.”

Sounds good to me. I can’t think of anyone less deserving of these honors than Trump. But Graham continues to indulge in hand-wringing.

“It’s obvious that there’s only one person they’re talking about here,” he wrote. “They would like to literally and totally erase all the good that President Trump’s policies did for this country. It’s a shame.”

What kind of “good” did this man do? Truly, I really don’t know. Perhaps the only good thing is that it’s made those of us who care about other people, the environment, and the world at large aware that there is a very large subset of Americans who don’t care — including a whopping 74 million who voted for him.

I’m pretty much on board with what Rep. Sanchez says here:

“For years, Donald Trump poured gasoline on lies, encouraging racism and hatred, then lit the match on Jan. 6th,” she wrote in a press release. “A president who has been impeached twice does not deserve the honors bestowed on a former president. We should never glorify the hatred Donald Trump personified as president. This bill ensures that there is no glory for hate — not a building, statue, or even a park bench.”

I was going to say perhaps we could name a sewage treatment plant after him, but of course, that’s a building so I guess that wouldn’t work. It would be fitting though.
