On Wednesday Republican Rep. Jim Jordan (Ohio) posted something on Twitter that he may now be regretting. Jordan is one in a long line [1] of Trump lackeys and he took it upon himself to tweet this bit of nonsense:
“President Trump is the leader of the Republican Party.”
President Trump is the leader of the Republican Party.

While the tweet has received more than 109,000 “likes” more than a few critics were on hand to remind him that Donald Trump lost the 2020 election to President Joe Biden, and not only that, the GOP lost its majorities in the House AND the Senate. If the truth hurts, it must really sting here.
Daily Kos [3] writer Jen Hayden noted:
“Keeping Donald Trump as the face and leader of the Republican Party after decisive electoral defeats in 2018 and 2020 that gave Democrats the House, Senate, and White House? Please proceed.”

CBS News digital reporter Kathryn Watson reminded him that it might be time for a change:
“When you lose the House, Senate, and White House under a party’s leader, it might be time to find a new one.”

Then she tacked on a second tweet:

Ouch.
Attorney Lisa Bloom “lauded” Jordan:
Great! He's just led your party into losing the House, the Senate, and the Presidency.
By all means, keep him in charge. https://t.co/3n72Razc3e [6]

There was, in fact, a virtual fusillade of tweets in response to Jordan’s nonsense and some leaned on sarcasm…

Oh heck, most of them leaned on the sarcasm:

Right! Because he won re-election! No, wait. Because he won back the House for you! No, wait. Because he kept the Senate for you! No, wait. Because he kept Georgia red! No, wait. This is your "leader"? #Trump [10] https://t.co/x6eXBA77CE [11]

One has to really wonder what Jordan was thinking when he wrote this tweet. Did he think a bunch of Trump supporters was going to thank him for his sentiments? This is Twitter, after all — land of snarky people. But Jordan is getting the comeuppance he deserves. He’s been a major Trump sycophant from the word go, so it’s nice to see some Twitter folk poking holes in his fantasy.
